Randy Holland - Trumpet, Piano, Bass Guitar
Randy Holland, born and raised in Houston, Texas, learned to play trumpet from his father, E.C. Holland, when he
was 7 and made his first concert appearances with his big band at Miller Outdoor Theater and the Shamrock Hotel
at the age of 10. Turning professional at 13, played trumpet with many other bands in Houston, as well as shows,
including performing on stage in a Houston Grand Opera production of Aida. In high school, was assistant jazz band
director, alternate to the All State Jazz Ensemble, twice All Region Symphonic Band, All Star at the Blue Ribbon
Jazz Bowl and received All-American Hall of Fame Band Honors. At the University of Houston as a Business
Technology major, played lead trumpet in the jazz band, was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi fraternity and also played
in the National Intercollegiate Symphonic Band. A member of over 25 bands over the years on several instruments,
has also performed in many shows, including, trumpet with Tony Bennett, The Drifters, Bobby Rydell, and the
Smothers Brothers, among others, as well as, bass guitar in concert with The Fifth Dimension. He has also
performed in orchestras for the Barnum and Bailey Circus, the Shrine Circus, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
and the Ice Capades and received a songwriter award from the Colorado Composers Classic. Currently a member of the
Board of Directors of the Houston Professional Musicians' Association.
